RECIPE ~ Liquid Gold Salad Dressing

This is my favourite salad dressing, good with lettuce, baby greens, or any combination of cooled steamed vegetables and beans. If you've been wanting to incorporate flaxseed in your diet, this is an easy and tasty way! Naturally contains omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B-12, C, and riboflavin. Makes 1 cup.

1/3 cup flaxseed oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup Bragg's Liquid Aminos
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp each ground cumin and dried rosemary

Combine all ingredients in a jar and shake.

For extra flavour, lightly toast the cumin in a dry pan before adding to the jar. Dressing will keep for two weeks in the fridge. If you don't have flaxseed oil or Bragg's, substitute for a good olive oil and light tamari for a still-delicious dressing, but it will lack some of the nutrients.

FOR INDIVIDUAL DOSHAS
KAPHAS use dressing in moderation due to oil content
PITTAS omit mustard and garlic

When you say "Bragg's", are you referring to the amino acids or the apple cider vinegar?

That's Bragg's Liquid Aminos -- I'll clarify in the ingredients!

This sounds like a great recipe, do you have the serving size and calorie/fat content per serving?

Most of the calories come from the flaxseed oil since the other ingredients have a negligible amount of callories. The full 1 cup of dressing has 700 cals which is enough for 2 salads that serve around 3 or 4 people, so 1 serving would be approximately 100 calories.

Great information on your site, Fran! RE: Your recipe for Detox Soup. At the end you list this information...VATAS choose sweet potato..... PITTAS choose sweet potato; replace spinach..... KAPHAS choose turnips; replace 1 or both zucchinis.... My ayurvedic doctor told me today I'm Pitta-Kapha. So....what do I do with recipes? Take 1/2 of the suggestions for each dosha?

Thanks! As for your food choices as a Pitta Kapha (that's what I am too!), since you're predominantly Pitta, choose sweet potato and replace spinach, and replace 1 zucchini. It's a compromise, favouring your Pitta. Hope this helps!
