RECIPE ~ Avocado Hummus (guacammus!)
Sometimes guacamole is just too good with all that healthy fat... so to lighten things up and add a twist to the same old hummus, try this crazy combo! It's creamy yet light.
1 ripe avocado
1/2 can garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained and rinsed
2 Tbsp each olive oil and water
juice of 1 lemon
1-2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/4 tsp salt or 1 tsp Bragg's
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried thyme
handful of cilantro, chopped
1 green onion, minced
1 small tomato, seeded and chopped (optional)
Cut the avocado in half, remove the nut and scoop out the flesh into a blender or food processor. Add the garbanzos, olive oil, water, lemon juice, garlic, salt or Bragg's, cumin and thyme. Process until nice and smooth. Pulse or stir in fresh chopped cilantro, green onion and tomato. Spoon into a pretty bowl and serve with rice crackers, tortilla chips or pita triangles.
* FOR INDIVIDUAL DOSHAS
VATAS garbanzos are not so good for you, so replace with 1 cup white beans or cooled steamed peas
PITTAS reduce garlic to 1 clove or none at all
KAPHAS avocados are too cool and fatty for Kaphas who need warming, astringent foods, so why not try this with 2/3 cup roasted red peppers instead to make a roasted red pepper hummus

I prefer "guacummus", rolls off the tongue easier than "hummusomole".

Hmmm, you might be right. Thanks Greg! I've added it to the title.
